bookbinding.

This week we had a day of bookbinding to refresh our memories before term starts. Reminded me why I like making books.

Judging by this picture I just couldn’t get involved enough. Not sure I could get any closer if I tried.

recent history.

I have not blogged for SO long and finally my guilty conscious has got the better of me and I have a few minutes to update my blog. I have been doing a few different projects since my last blog post. I had a commission to produce a piece of promotional material for the Illustration strand of the MA Publishing course at Plymouth. I decided to make a book which could be read two ways. I used screenprint to get the eye-popping colours and letterpress to add the text on, a narrative story written by myself. Although it was probably the most process-heavy piece of work I have ever done I am so glad I did it as it gave me a chance to put my work in a different context and pushed my design skills.

You can see pictures of the finished piece on my website.

Currently I am…

So, I have now officially graduated and am now working as an associate in the Letterpress studio at Uni, pretty much my absolute dream job so am making the most of it over the next year. I’ll be working on various projects which I actually will put on this blog…At the moment I am helping Paul who runs Letterpress make a colour sample book of all the mixed inks we have. t is taking a while but I’m pretty sure the result will be worth it. Here are just a few photos of the work in progress, more to come soon…
